So over Pink!
I am so tired of all of these companies capitalizing on “Breast Cancer Awareness”. I see PINK on everything. And, I mean EVERYTHING! While I believe it is important to raise funds for research in the different types of breast cancer (you do know there is more than one, right?), I do not believe all of these companies are actually putting forth the money they say they are. I also think...

A Really Cool Visitor!
I attended a fantastic boy’s birthday party yesterday. The theme was archaeology. The kids were given bags and tools to look for fossils along the beach. There were also two metal detectors available to look for “metal”. My son and I took to the metal detecting. It was FUN! He found over $1.50 ($10 was sprinkled out in the sand for the kids to find)! I enjoyed it just for the...

Getting Lost in a Maze
The kids were off from school yesterday since the State Teachers Convention was taking place. Dad was not yet home from his work trip. We needed something to do.
It is cooling down here, but it was sunny yesterday. I am a big fan of doing things locally, if we can. We live in a semi-rural area that still has some farms remaining. We decided to go visit one that, this year, has a corn maze and...
Chilean Miners and PTSD
I am very excited and very happy for the Chilean miners and their rescuers. I think what they all did is amazing. It shows what people can do when they come together as one unit. Yes, I was one of those blubbering along every time a miner reached the surface. They were “safe”.
Unfortunately they have a long road ahead. Not only are they heroes, they are survivors. A majority will most...
Minds are Like Parachutes
How is people can claim to be open-minded can still be extremely closed-minded on a variety of topics? I don’t get it. If you are open-minded, you can listen. You may not agree, but you can listen and understand where the other person is coming from. You also disagree in a pleasant manner rather than jump down that person’s throat just because they don’t think the same. People...

Karma's biting me in the butt!
I believe in Karma. The definition of Karma varies somewhat between religions, but, essentially it is your deeds and actions have consequences. Some religions believe the consequences happen in this life; other religions believe the consequences happen in a subsequent life. Now, as my title implies, do you think of Karma as being negative? This is where some people get Karma wrong. Karma is...
Where I find solace against angry people
For years I have been grappling with issues I do not understand. Yes, it is extended family related. Yes, I wish it were different. I think in order for things to be different, people have to have dialogues. These may be difficult since sad memories may be brought to the forefront, but the dialogues should be open to all sides. My experience, however, has always been one sided. The other side...
